Hulk Hogan has been awarded $25 million in addition to the $115 million already awarded to him in his ongoing sex-tape lawsuit against media company, Gawker.
After deliberating for over four hours, the jury decided to dismiss the plea of mercy made by Gawker and ordered its founder Nick Denton to pay the additional sum for punitive damages.
The jurors stated that Gawker was liable for $15 million in punitive damages while Denton was liable for $10 million. The company’s former editor A.J. DaulerioDaulerio , who was also involved, was found liable for an additional $100,000.
Hulk Hogan expressed how content he was. “I feel great. I’m really happy about everything that’s happened,” he said. “I think we made history today because I think we protected a lot of people from maybe going through what I went through. So we’re very excited, very happy.”
Although, Gawker will appeal the case, they are required to pay the settlement. While they are at it.
